Commissioned Paintings
Memories In Acrylics
Do you have a favourite photo of a memory that you want captured in a painting? Then a commissioned painting may be the answer. Since I paint in a realistic style, I am well suited to doing commissioned work. I have completed several commissioned paintings for people over the years.
Colour photos do not bring out the subtle tonal values of a scene; artists must capture these subtle values through creativity and detail. A photo is two dimensional, while my painting brings out the third dimension, depth. Then there are the vivid, vibrant colours of acrylics.
My objective is to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the painting, and that there are no surprises.
The process is as follows:
|

I started with a 4" X 6" photograph...
 ...and completed a 12" X 16" painting.
|
- I go over the photos with you and we choose the best design of the subject and the size of the painting.
- I then prepare a preliminary sketch of the subject and receive approval from you to proceed.
- During the painting process, I show the work-in-progress to you for approval.
- Prior to finalizing the painting, I show the painting to you and any final changes can be made if needed.
- The price of the painting is based on the process above, as well as taking into account the complexity and size of the painting.
- The cost of the frame is priced separately. You select the type and colour of frame for the painting. The frame is normally purchased by me and the cost is included in the final total. The painting is professionally framed.
- There are normal shipping costs, if applicable, and 8% Provincial Sales Tax if delivered in Ontario.
- A deposit of 25% of the cost of the painting is initially required.
